Carmen Andrews has combined a career in science, technology and education to obtain a unique blend of strategic planning and pedagogical know-how in public education. By integrating skills for innovative curriculum design and implementation, effective classroom instruction and project management, Carmen has earned a reputation as an effective leader who helps her clients achieve their most critical educational goals.
Most recently, Carmen has brought her two decades of public education experience as a teacher and administrator to a new role as an educational consultant. She now advises educators in professional development workshops and online how to effectively integrate best practices and curriculum in the era of NCLB. Her science and technology workshops have always garnered high praise from participants.
Carmen has collaborated professionally with teachers, school administrators, university faculty and students on numerous technology and science professional development projects, as well as on district-level curriculum and instructional initiatives.
Carmen began her career outside the educational community in the public and private sectors. Before becoming an educator, she worked as a microbiologist and as an applications programmer and consultant for IT companies. These experiences led to eight years of teaching information technology, biology and mathematics in colleges and universities.
Carmen received her Master’s degree in physiology from Georgetown University and her undergraduate degree in zoology and microbiology from the University of Maryland in College Park. She received her training in IT from the University of Hartford. Carmen completed her 6th Year Program for a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership at Central Connecticut State University.
